Every device that connects to a network, Wi-Fi or wired, has a Media Access Control (MAC) address, sometimes called a "physical address." This allows the device to identify itself and properly send and receive information that it requests. If you encounter an issue with the Regent University campus Wi-Fi, you may be asked to supply your device's MAC address for troubleshooting. Below are some guides to locate your MAC address on most devices.
A MAC address can contain a mix of non-case sensitive letters and numbers will be formatted similar to one of the following:
AB-C1-EF-23-AB-4C
or
ab:c1:ef:23:ab:1c
Laptops
For Windows 11:
- go to Settings>Network & Internet>Advanced network settings>Hardware and connection properties
It will be under "Physical address (MAC):"
*Note, when checking for Hardware and connection properties, ensure you are checking the correct device. If you are checking the MAC address for a Wi-Fi connection, it will have a name like "Wireless Adapter" or "Wireless LAN."
Advanced: Under command prompt or Powershell, you may type "ipconfig /all" and press enter to receive the same information shown above.
For Mac:
- go to System Settings>Network>[Select your current device you connect with, either Ethernet or Wi-Fi]>Details
It will be under "MAC address" on the Hardware page
*Note each device has its own MAC address, ensure you are selecting your Wi-Fi adapter if you are troubleshooting a Wi-Fi issue.
Mobile devices
For iPhone or iPads:

It will be further down on the page under "Wi-Fi Address"
