Joining a Zoom meeting
To join an existing Zoom meeting, you will need a Meeting ID number or a Meeting Invitation link.
To access a Canvas class Zoom meeting, click "Join" from your Canvas Course's upcoming Zoom meetings page.
Options for joining a Zoom meeting:
Join on the web
Join using the desktop Zoom application
Join using the Zoom mobile app
Join via telephone call (teleconferencing)

Creating a Zoom meeting
Instructors can schedule a meeting, host an online classroom, or set up online office hours using Zoom directly in Canvas.

How to schedule a meeting as a Regent Student, Staff, or Faculty in 10 easy steps:
1. Open the Zoom desktop client and sign in to your Zoom account.
2. Click the Home tab.
3. Click the Schedule icon (calendar)
4. Provide a topic for the meeting and adjust the date and time.
5. Choose a meeting ID, which is the number used to create an invitation link for the meeting. For scheduled meetings, we recommend choosing Generate Automatically which provides a unique ID for the meeting.
6. Adjust the security options, such as Waiting Room, passcodes, and requiring authentication, to suit your needs.
7. Set the desired video defaults for the host and participants.
8. Set which audio options you want available in the meeting. Then click Advanced Options to enable other features (Optional).
9. Select which 3rd-party calendaring service you would like to export the meeting to, or select the Other Calendars option to view and copy the meeting invitation.
10. Click Save to finish scheduling the meeting.

Using Zoom in-meeting controls
Host controls allow you to control various aspects of the Zoom Meeting. The host controls will appear at the bottom of your screen if you are not currently screen sharing.
- Mute/Unmute: This allows you to mute or unmute your microphone.
- Start/Stop Video: This allows you to start or stop your own video.
- Security: Manage meeting settings including participant ability to unmute or start video.
- Manage Participants: Opens the Participants window. The small arrow allows you to access the meeting invitation link.
- Chat: Access the chat window to chat with the participants. The small arrow allows you to enable/disable chat previews.
- Share Screen: Start sharing your screen. You will be able to select the desktop screen or application you want to share.
- Record: Start or stop a cloud or local recording. If automatic cloud recording is not enabled, you must manually start and stop the recording using this option.
- Breakout Rooms: Opens the menu to create smaller breakout rooms within the meeting.
- Reactions: Select a reaction or adjust reaction settings.
- Apps: Opens options for Zoom Collaborations.
- Whiteboard: Displays a digital whiteboard.
- Notes: Opens a panel for personal note-taking.
- End: Opens options to leave or end the meeting for all participants.
