How to Process Incomplete Grades in Canvas
By default, Canvas automatically restricts student access to a course when a scheduled end-of-semester date is entered in the Course Details page under the Settings link (image attached below). This restriction prevents students from submitting assignments beyond the specified end date.
However, it is important to note that in cases where a student receives an incomplete grade, faculty members must manually update the course end date and make necessary adjustments to allow these students continued access to the course.
The entire class will retain access to the course until the extended course availability period expires. Faculty must individually manage and grant access to specific assignments and quizzes for students with incomplete grades.
Please note that this instruction applies exclusively to faculty members who have manually updated the course end date in their respective course(s). In the future, we highly recommend leaving the "End" date field blank to avoid this issue.
